CUMULUS Triple A KFOG/SAN FRANCISCO adds longtime BAY AREA radio personalities “IRISH” GREG MCQUAID and MIKE NELSON (also known as “NO NAME”), joining morning personality RENEE RICHARDSON as Co-Hosts of the KFOG Morning Show. MCQUAID and NELSON debuted with RENEE on TODAY (1/5).
NELSON has been an on-air fixture on BAY AREA radio for 20 years. He was formerly a morning show host for Alternative KITS (LIVE 105) from 2009 to 2010 and hosted afternoons on the station from 2011 to 2014.
MCQUAID began his radio career at LIVE 105, along with RENEE and NO NAME. He spent 14 years at KFOG before taking a detour to KOSF (BIG 103.7), where he has been on-air for the past two years.
CUMULUS Corporate Programming/Rock Formats TROY HANSON said, “It’s a great day for BAY AREA radio fans as we welcome NO NAME and welcome back IRISH GREG to the on-air and digital sphere of the KFOG brand. Both gentlemen, along with RENEE RICHARDSON, bring that special 'it' of SFO authentic appeal, flavor and feel that will set an excellent course for each listening day at KFOG.”
OM/PD JIM RICHARDS added, “This is an exciting time for KFOG! One of my main goals when coming here was to build a morning show. To have 'IRISH GREG' MCQUAID rejoin as producer with RENEE (RICHARDSON) would be great on its own -- but 'NO NAME' MIKE NELSON’s addition takes this show to a whole new level. We have three market veterans coming together to give THE BAY AREA a show of relatable music fans who will give listeners a new reason to tune in to KFOG.”
MCQUAID said, "I'm thrilled to be returning to KFOG, which I've always considered my radio home. RENEE, MIKE (NO NAME) and I are three friends who love THE BAY AREA and I know that will make for a fun, informative and sometimes silly start to the day. I can't wait!"
NELSON said, “Growing up as a kid in THE EAST BAY, attending college in THE SOUTH BAY, and working for years in SAN FRANCISCO, the weight and legacy of the KFOG call letters are not lost on me. KFOG has always been the true one-of-a-kind soundtrack to life in THE BAY AREA, and I am beyond excited to be a part of that. RENEE and GREG are two BAY AREA originals and are super talents. I first met them both in the late '90s and have always been a huge fan of what they bring to the table on and off the air. So yeah, getting to work with two of the best radio personalities on the legendary KFOG -- I'm definitely living the dream!"
