DRAKE, THE BLACK KEYS, DEADMAU5, LANA DEL REY, FLORENCE + THE MACHINE, MY MORNING JACKET, BJÖRK, RYAN ADAMS, NOEL GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING BIRDS, CHROMEO, TAME IMPALA, THE DECEMBERISTS, ST. VINCENT, THE WAR ON DRUGS, HOT CHIP, SHARON VAN ETTEN, LITTLE DRAGON, FLYING LOTUS, CHARLI XCX and WEIRD AL YANKOVIC are among the acts scheduled for the fifth annual GOVERNORS BALL MUSIC FESTIVAL, set for FRIDAY, JUNE 5th through SUNDAY, JUNE 7th at NEW YORK's RANDALL'S ISLAND PARK.
Promoters FOUNDERS ENTERTAINMENT have promised, in addition to the world-class music lineup, a variety of culinary options and art installations which contribute to the FESTIVAL's unique, NEW YORK CITY vibe.
Over the past five years GOVERNORS BALL has conquered a notoriously difficult market for music festivals, survived a historic tropical storm, and grown from a one-day event to a three-day affair to emerge as one of NORTH AMERICA's most revered music festivals.
"We're thrilled to announce the 2015 lineup for GOV BALL, which we feel is our strongest yet," says FOUNDERS ENTERTAINMENT partner JORDAN WOLOWITZ. "This JUNE will be a celebration of our fifth anniversary as NYC's premier music festival. We would like to send our most sincere thanks to the fans and artists across the globe that have helped make this FESTIVAL what it is today, as well as to the RANDALL'S ISLAND PARK ALLIANCE, who has been an incredible partner to us over the years. See everyone JUNE 5th! It'll be one hell of a party."
GOVERNORS BALL will utilize RFID wristband technology to provide patrons with an optional cashless system at this year's festival, allowing a quick and easy method to pay for food, beer, and merch at the festival.
Last year, the festival hired hundreds of local residents from EAST HARLEM and the SOUTH BRONX, partnered with dozens of local NYC food vendors, and made significant contributions to the MAYOR'S FUND in support of the victims of the EAST HARLEM building explosion and ANSWER THE CALL, the NY POLICE & FIRE WIDOWS' & CHILDREN'S BENEFIT FUND. An economic impact study of the 2014 GOV BALL found the festival generated $40 million in economic benefits for the city. More than 300 new jobs were created and $20 million in wages were earned.
