Emmis Asks FCC For KROX Signal Boost

EMMIS COMMUNICATIONS is asking the FCC to sign off on the relocation of one of its antennas to boost the signal Alternative KROX (101X)/AUSTIN, the SAN ANTONIO BUSINESS JOURNAL reports. If the company gets the green light, the station's signal could reach parts of SAN ANTONIO.
Alternative music can only be heard in SAN ANTONIO on KSYM, a student-operated station affiliated with SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE.
"It is likely that more listeners on the north side of SAN ANTONIO will be able to get the station," EMMIS/AUSTIN VP CHASE RUPE said. "We do have a construction permit in with the FCC for this potential upgrade, but we do not a have a firm time line (for a decision)."
Not so coincidentally, there have been conversations about merging SAN ANTONIO and AUSTIN into a single, significantly larger, regional media market of more than 4.1 million people.
