Ray Seggern Exits Austin's ‘The Fringe'

AUSTIN radio vet RAY SEGGERN has exited as PD at AUSTIN RADIO NETWORK Triple A-Alternative hybrid 105.3 THE FRINGE (KOKE-2)/AUSTIN as of TODAY (1/30). He joined the station last APRIL, which launched with the high-profile market vets JB & SANDY in mornings.
In a FACEBOOK post yesterday, SEGGERN said, “Tomorrow marks the official end of my tenure as Program Director at 105.3 THE FRINGE. I tendered my resignation to BOB COLE on JANUARY 5th, but I had made the decision earlier during the holidays. BOB asked me to stay on through the end of JANUARY to make the transition seamless. I was happy to oblige on the admin front, but I chose to make my last day on the air JANUARY 2nd.
"My reasons for deciding to leave are mostly personal: my mom's been sick for several weeks and I'm taking on a larger role in the life of my nephew, who she's raised since he first came home from the hospital 10 years ago. I was also awarded full custody of my 11-year old daughter in DECEMBER. All of the above is made more problematic by the fact that my older daughter is now 1,500 miles away at Duke University. I would be remiss not to include the wake-up call I got when my best friend COREY MITCHELL unexpectedly passed away back in OCTOBER.”
SEGGERN went to say that his advertising agency was also taking off.
No replacement for him has been named yet.
