In CANADA, BELL MEDIA Top 40 CKBC (MAX 104.9)/BATHURST, NB has won official CRTC sanction for a power increase from 20,000 watts to 33,500 watts. The station was asked by the Department of Industry to increase its power to satisfy transmitter class requirements, and BELL discovered the discrepancy while reviewing the station's operations in the process of buying it and other stations from ASTRAL MEDIA. The CRTC granted BELL's application, noting that the contours of the station even with the additional power conformed to the market definition.
