The UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY has inked a new 15-year extension of its deal with iHEARTMEDIA for the WILDCATS to air on several of the company's stations. The deal was negotiated through the school's new rightsholder JMI SPORTS and keeps the WILDCATS on stations including News-Talk WHAS-A and News-Talk WKJK-A/LOUISVILLE; News-Talk WLAP-A (the network flagship since 2000), Sports WWTF-A (FOX SPORTS 1580), and Country WBUL (98.1 THE BULL)/LEXINGTON; and Sports WCKY-A (ESPN 1530)/CINCINNATI. Football and men's basketball pre-game shows will be extended from 60 to 90 minutes.
"It is a priority for me that we provide our fans access to game broadcasts and programming throughout the region," said UK Athletics Director MITCH BARNHART. "This agreement assures that UK's programming will continue to air on the stations that have the largest impact and the greatest reach."
JMI SPORTS CEO ERIK JUDSON said, "We knew from the beginning how important the relationship is between UK and its radio audience, which is why we made this agreement a priority from day one."
JMI SPORTS President TOM STULZ added, "All broadcasts will be produced in iHEARTMEDIA LEXINGTON's studios, giving them a distinct KENTUCKY feel and providing excellent local control. JMI SPORTS will manage all advertising inventory for the programming on the UK SPORTS NETWORK, allowing us to enhance the benefits to UK's sponsors and partners."
