HAROLD Z. SWIDLER's WHYL, INC. has returned WHYL-A/CARLISLE, PA to the air with an Oldies format, reports THE SENTINEL of CARLISLE.
SWIDLER bought the station, silent for most of 2014 and early 2015, from TRUSTWORTHY RADIO LLC through trustee MARKIAN R. SLOBODIAN in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy sale last year. SWIDLER's son ERIC told the SENTINEL that while it took longer than expected to get the station back to the air, "Everything has been positive in terms of response and listenership that has come back to us; a lot of folks say connected through social media aspects, and they’ve been following the goings-on. People are just thrilled to be able to get the music format — which is really one of a kind because there is nobody playing what amounts to the classic hits of top 40 radio. These are favorites that these folks have grown up with.”
Among the hosts on the revived station are former CARLISLE Mayor KIRK WILSON and LARRY FLOOD.
