WILLIAM B. WACHTER is selling AC KTRN/WHITE HALL-PINE BLUFF, AR to BLUFF CITY RADIO. LLC for $162,000 plus $26,000 for accounts receivable. At the same time, ONE MEDIA, INC. is also selling the construction permits for three unbuilt stations obtained in FCC FM Auction 93, KTPB/ALTHEIMER, AR and KHUC and KPBA/PINE BLUFF, AR to BLUFF CITY RADIO. LLC for $40,000 and a 20% interest in BLUFF CITY RADIO. The buyer's 80% owner, NEW DIRECTIONS MEDIA GROUP, LLC, is owned by PAUL COATES (51%) and former ARKANSAS Governor, presidential candidate, and talk show host MIKE HUCKABEE (49%).
In another filing with the FCC, FAMILY BROADCASTING AND MEDIA, INC. has applied for a Silent STA for WCKL-A/CATSKILL, NY due to "many factors," including a transmitter failure and the "hard winter."
A low power FM construction permit was granted to LATINO HERITAGE ORGANIZATION, INC. at TAMPA, FL.
The Commission also denied a Petition to Deny by EVELYN YAARI and an informal objection filed by JEROME W. MONDESIRE and granted the license renewal of WHYY, INC. noncommercial News-Talk WHYY-F/PHILADELPHIA. MONDESIRE alleged that WHYY had "failed to employ members of racial minorities commensurate with the racial profile in metro PHILADELPHIA," "does not employ any African American, Latino or Asian Americans" as on-air personalities, and "does not broadcast any ethnic specific programming to these populations." YAARI objected to the station's coverage of the controversial move of the BARNES FOUNDATION art collection from its longtime MERION, PA home to a larger, more public building on BENJAMIN FRANKLIN PARKWAY in PHILADELPHIA.
