FCC Opens Proposed Change In Sponsor ID Rules For Comment
March 13, 2015 at 3:14 PM (PT)
The FCC is seeking comments on a proposal by the RADIO BROADCASTERS COALITION (MB Docket No. 15-52) that would waive the Commission’s requirement that broadcasters air sponsorship ID announcements when the paid material is broadcast.
Under the proposal, radio stations airing music or sports and having websites could offer less frequent on-air announcements plus enhanced online disclosures. Sponsored content appearing within news, informational, or political programming, regardless of station format, would not be exempt from the existing rules and would continue to have to air the IDs with the paid content.
Interested parties may file comments on or before APRIL 13th with replies due MAY 12th.
