A lawsuit by a former personality at FOREVER BROADCASTING Country WFGI (FROGGY 95) and Rock WRKW (ROCKY 99)/JOHNSTOWN, PA alleges that her firing was a case of wrongful termination and gender discrimination.
The PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW reports that NANCY LANE, who used the names DAISY and LEXI on the air at the stations, has sued FOREVER OF PA over her firing, which she says occurred because she was being stalked and harassed by her ex-husband, GEORGE LANE, who went to prison last year for his actions.
The suit alleges that after NANCY LANE informed GM TERRY DEITZ that the District Attorney's office had advised her and another host to leave town because her husband was "soliciting her murder," DEITZ granted her paid leave but then fired her in FEBRUARY 2014, telling her, "Regrettably, recent events involving your former husband have caused severe disruption to our business and made this decision necessary."
LANE's husband had served time in prison for damaging her car and six others belonging to the radio station in 2013; he was charged in JANUARY 2014 for sending harassing e-mails to her at the station and later charged with impersonating a police officer in a call to her at the station.
LANE is seeking reinstatement, back wages and benefits, and damages and expenses as well as a ruling that the firing violated state and federal laws.
