TYLER MEDIA News-Talk KOKC-A/OKLAHOMA CITY reportedly lost at least two of its transmitting towers to a tornado that hit MOORE, OK WEDNESDAY.
The station reposted a FACEBOOK post from TYLER MEDIA's FRED C. COOK noting that based on footage taken by CBS affiliate KWTV "it looks like two-and-a-half of our broadcast towers bought the farm."
NBC affiliate KFOR-TV showed a still photo of one of the towers with the top portion folded down parallel to the lower two-thirds. The station's three-tower array is located on SW 4th Street in MOORE, west of I-35. Portions of the town between SW 4th and SW 6th Streets and between Santa Fe and Janeway were closed due to the damage, and southbound I-35 was closed due to an overturned truck leaking hazardous materials. MOORE was heavily damaged by tornadoes on MAY 20, 2013, but the tornado that hit the town WEDNESDAY was reportedly weaker.
