No Shoes, No Shirt, No Rust - Kenny Chesney Kicks Off New Tour In Nashville
March 27, 2015 at 9:24 AM (PT)
It was fitting that rocker JOE WALSH – one of KENNY CHESNEY’s many special guests at last NIGHT’s (3/26) “The Big Revival 2015” tour opener in NASHVILLE – played his signature song, “All Night Long,” because the show was a 36-song marathon that somehow never left anyone feeling fatigued, or wanting the evening to end, for that matter.
CHESNEY’s last tour date was 2013’s GILLETTE STADIUM show in FOXBORO, MA, and it was clear last night that he’s missed sharing music with 20,000 fans and some of his closest musical friends. It was also clear there is no apparent rust on CHESNEY or his band members after time off for some R&R and the making of his “The Big Revival” album.
It was also CHESNEY’s birthday, with numerous renditions of “Happy Birthday” eminating from various sections of NASHVILLE’s BRIDGESTONE ARENA during the night. WALSH’s official birthday salute to the evening’s headliner finally united all 20,000 attendees in recognizing KENNY's day of birth.
In addition to WALSH, who rocked hard with his signature tunes “Rocky Mountain Way,” “Life in the Fast Lane” and “Life’s Been Good,” none other than the world’s reigning pop queen, TAYLOR SWIFT showed up to assist CHESNEY on – appropriately - “Big Star.”
UNCLE KRACKER, GRACE POTTER and DAVID LEE MURPHY were there too, singing their own songs and teaming with CHESNEY for his own now-classic tunes.
“That crowd was awesome,” CHESNEY said after the show. “Talk about the greatest birthday present! Hearing them sing those songs back at me: it’s why the ‘NO SHOWS NATION’ rocks. Nobody loves music like they do, and I am always amazed by how hard they throw that energy at us.”
THURSDAY night was the kick-off to 55 shows, 22 of which will be in stadiums (NET NEWS 1/14).
CHESNEY is back at NASHVILLE's BRIDGESTONE ARENA TONIGHT (3/27).
