The GARTH BROOKS "WORLD TOUR" shows in TAMPA, FL (NET NEWS 3/31) have been canceled due to unexpected scheduling for the 2015 STANLEY CUP FINALS. The AMALIE ARENA, where BROOKS and wife TRISHA YEARWOOD were slated to perform three shows in two days, is home to the TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING, who have advanced to the final round of NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE (NHL) playoffs. Due to scheduling by the NHL and NBC-TV and the LIGHTNING earning home-ice for the SATURDAY, JUNE 6th match, the shows have been canceled and all ticket holders are being issued refunds.
BROOKS took to his website and FACEBOOK with a statement regarding the issue. "First of all, we would all like to congratulate the TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING and the CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS for reaching the STANLEY CUP FINALS...The issue of getting the network crews and their gear out of the building and getting our crews and gear into the building late SATURDAY/early SUNDAY for two shows on SUNDAY raises serious safety concerns," explained BROOKS. "It is because of those safety concerns that the choice is being made to refund all shows and reschedule depending on finding a date that works for both the ARENA and the TOUR. This was a hard decision for everyone."
