Locally owned Oldies WLNG/SAG HARBOR-LONG ISLAND, NY afternoon host RUSTY POTZ hung up his headphones for the final time after almost 40 years with the station, 27EAST.COM reports. He signed off last FRIDAY, a little more than a one month before he turns 72, after a radio career that started in 1963.
Yesterday, POTZ his wife, MARGARET, moved to SARASOTA, FL. “When I was on the last day, I didn’t get choked up," he told the paper. "Unexpectedly, I got a little bit choked up a week beforehand. Being a deejay for 52 years ... that’s a big thing to give up. I remember how hard it was to get into the business.
"'Hey, folks, it’s been great,' he said, 'and God bless you.'"
