FCC Issues More Standards For Emergency Alert System

The FCC has issued more standards for the Emergency Alert System, reacting to the NOVEMBER 9th, 2011 nationwide test.
The new Report and Order establishes "six zeroes" (000000) as the national location code required to be recognized by all EAS equipment; requires all EAS equipment to be able to process a "National Periodic Test" event code; creates a mandatory "Electronic Test Report System" for test data; and requires participants to comply with "minimum accessibility" rules.
EAS participants must comply with the new standards within 12 months of their effective date.
