Recently-hired DALY XXL News-Talk WMEX-A/BOSTON afternoon host MICHELE MCPHEE has been arrested on drunken driving, resisting arrest, and assault charges after she allegedly hit and injured a MASSACHUSETTS state trooper while being arrested for the OUI charge.
The BOSTON HERALD reports that MCPHEE has pleaded not guilty to charges that she was pulled over while driving drunk early THURSDAY (6/11), told State Trooper PATRICK J. CADELIERE that she has "defended cops for 30 years" and he should contact "any Trooper, (STATE POLICE union chief) DANA PULLMAN, or the Colonel (Superintendent Col. TIMOTHY ALBEN) so I can leave," and kicked the officer while being arrested, threatening him that "I'm calling the Colonel ... let me go ... get a supervisor."
MCPHEE pleaded not guilty at a court appearance THURSDAY and was released on her own recognizance; she appeared with a head injury at the arraignment. WMEX management issued a statement saying, “MICHELE MCPHEE is a respected member of the 1510 WMEX family, and the management of 1510 WMEX stands behind her in this difficult time as we would any friend or family member. We leave it to the judicial system of the State of MASSACHUSETTS to provide due process and justice to MICHELE, while we continue to support her within our family, and wish her a speedy recovery from the serious injuries that she sustained in the course of this event."
MCPHEE recently joined WMEX to fill the slot left open when HOWIE CARR returned to crosstown ENTERCOM News-Talk WRKO-A. She has been heard hosting at WRKO and the old GREATER MEDIA News-Talk WTKK and has written for the HERALD, BOSTON GLOBE, and NEW YORK DAILY NEWS and reported for ABC affiliate WCVB-TV/BOSTON.
