SHOW DOG-UNIVERSAL star TOBY KEITH and legendary songwriter-producer BOBBY BRADDOCK were inducted into the SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME (SHOF) last NIGHT (6/18). The pair joined five others for induction into the HALL OF FAME at the organization's annual ceremony in NEW YORK CITY (NET NEWS 2/18). STEPHEN COLBERT made a surprise appearance to induct KEITH, while JENNIFER NETTLES and ZAC BROWN appeared to pay tribute to BOBBY BRADDOCK and GRATEFUL DEAD songwriters ROBERT HUNTER and the late JERRY GARCIA, respectively. For a full recap of memorable moments, check out THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's take on the evening here.
KEITH shared an acceptance speech that touched on the current plight of songwriters, saying, "We used to make good money doing this. That royalty money might change [a songwriter's] life and protect his family. This award tonight is the only thing I've ever wanted ... it's the only award that I would show in my house." Many of KEITH's famous friends put together a congratulatory video that has circulated throughout social media TODAY (6/19).
