RCA NASHVILLE recording artists and GRAND OLE OPRY members GARTH BROOKS and TRISHA YEARWOOD made a surprise appearance during a sold-out show at the GRAND OLE OPRY on FRIDAY, JUNE 19th. VINCE GILL introduced YEARWOOD to the stage, who quipped, "I didn't have a chance to bring my band or call them or anything, but luckily I live with a GRAND OLE OPRY member, so if you all would make welcome my guitar player tonight, my husband, Mr. GARTH BROOKS!"
As BROOKS played acoustic guitar, YEARWOOD belted out her signature debut #1 hit, "She's In Love With The Boy," before the two shared a medley of some Classic Country duets. "We rehearsed in the truck on the way here, so..." offered YEARWOOD, to which BROOKS said, "Good luck!" The couple launched in to portions of CONWAY TWITTY and LORETTA LYNN's "After The Fire Is Gone," JIM ED BROWN and HELEN CORNELIUS' "I Don't Want To Have To Marry You," and GEORGE JONES and TAMMY WYNETTE's "Golden Ring." The appearance marked the first time in nearly 10 years that BROOKS has performed on the GRAND OLE OPRY, though he did appear briefly in 2008 to induct CARRIE UNDERWOOD as a member. The OPRY is currently in the midst of celebrating its 90th anniversary, and more exciting special guests are sure to take part in the coming months.
