Survey Of TV Promo Execs Ranks Radio Second Among Outside Media To Promote TV News

A survey of television station creative services directors and promotion managers showed radio ranking second only to social media as the most effective outside medium to promote TV news. Social media ranked first, with radio edging out websites for second -- websites beat out radio in the previous year's survey -- followed closely by local cable. Further down the list were email, outdoor, newspapers and direct mail.
The managers' opinion of social media is rising, with the percentage of respondents saying that social media were either "extremely" or "quite" effective in promoting newscasts rising from 43.1% to 51.5%. Among social media, FACEBOOK was cited as most effective by 77.7%, with just 10.9% citing TWITTER.
