Vivendi Acquires Popular Video Hub Dailymotion

VIVENDI finalized its acquisition of an 80% stake in DAILYMOTION from ORANGE for 217 million euros. DAILYMOTION is one of the biggest aggregation and distribution platforms in the world, a video-sharing website for viewers to upload, watch and share videos. Its content comes from users, independent creators and premium partners. It was founded by OLIVIER POITREY and BENJAMIN BEJBAUM in PARIS in 2005.
The integration within VIVIENDI offers DAILYMOTION the means to strongly accelerate its growth and continue its international expansion, giving the company access to particularly original music and audiovisual content and allowing for further joint development with the UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP and CANAL+ GROUP teams.
VIVENDI states that the acquisition is "at the core" of its digital strategy. With DAILYMOTION, the GROUP "benefits from an over-the-top distribution platform of international stature and of a technological expertise which complements its existing one.
