LEARFIELD SPORTS has acquired FRONT ROW MARKETING SERVICES’ collegiate multimedia rights from FRONT ROW owner COMCAST SPECTACOR foe an undisclosed price. Schools covered by the deals include JAMES MADISON UNIVERSITY, DREXEL UNIV., UNIV. OF ALASKA-ANCHORAGE, ST. CLOUD STATE UNIV., GEORGE MASON UNIV., UNIV. OF WISCONSIN-MILWAUKEE, FORDHAM UNIV., UC-IRVINE, the COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION, UNIV. OF NORTH DAKOTA, and RADFORD UNIV.
All FRONT ROW employees will be joining LEARFIELD, including regional executives NINO VANIN and KEITH BRADSHAW, who will continue in their roles and will report to LEARFIELD SVP STEVE GOWAN; the FRONT ROW name will be retired and the operation will be placed under the LEARFIELD SPORTS banner.
LEARFIELD Pres./CEO GREG BROWN said, “We are pleased to welcome these properties to the LEARFIELD family. Collegiate multimedia rights are the core of our company and so opportunities like this will always be of interest to us, because of what we believe we can offer the schools and our new team members.”
BROWN added, “We are grateful to COMCAST SPECTACOR for working with us to close this transaction, and we look forward to serving the schools and conference partners and associates that are now a part of our family."
FRONT ROW's venue sponsorship business, not included in the deal, was previously merged into COMCAST SPECTACOR's GLOBAL SPECTRUM venue management company, which in turn was merged with OVATIONS FOOD SERVICES and PACIOLAN as SPECTRA. COMCAST SPECTACOR, a division of COMCAST, owns the PHILADELPHIA FLYERS, PHILADELPHIA's WELLS FARGO CENTER arena, and SPECTRA.
