Another Radio War: WFAN/New York's Mike Francesa Vs. CBS Sports Radio Commentators

MIKE FRANCESA, already testy about his relationship with his CBS RADIO Sports WFAN-A-F/NEW YORK bosses and his simulcast on FOX SPORTS 1 and FOX SPORTS 2, is now in a war of words with CBS SPORTS RADIO hosts DAMON AMENDOLARA and JOHN KINCADE and WFAN morning man BOOMER ESIASON.
FRANCESA took AMENDOLARA to task last week over the latter's "CBS SPORTS MINUTE" commentary about HULK HOGAN that aired during FRANCESA's show, with FRANCESA ripping the feature as "one of the great wastes of airspace ... these righteous commentaries," asking why a host would bother with commentaries about things "no one would even think about defending" and taking a shot at AMENDOLARA calling himself "D.A." ("What's with the initials... these people have been in the business 20 minutes ... I hate these commentaries, they don't belong on my show, they don't belong on any show").
BOB'S BLITZ.COM reports that after FRANCESA's comments, CBS SPORTS RADIO's JOHN KINCADE defended AMENDOLARA on his weekend show, marveling that FRANCESA would be upset by a host using initials (noting that KINCADE's own show is called "THE J.K. SHOW") and vowing to use his initials more.
"Lighten up, Francis," KINCADE said, quoting the movie "STRIPES." "Let's have a fun time with life ... D.A., you keep doing what you're doing. You're a rising star, and I love you for it."
KINCADE spent more time talking about FRANCESA, who has a national show on the network after KINCADE's on SUNDAY mornings, wondering why FRANCESA has a problem with initials, adding that AMENDOLARA's use of initials make sense with a difficult-to-pronounce last name, joking about FRANCESA's unofficial nickname "The Pope," and making a reference to FRANCESA's falling asleep on the air.
NJ ADVANCE MEDIA/NJ.COM reports that on MONDAY's show, FRANCESA responded to the jibes. "Here's what they should do," he said. "They should worry about trying to figure out how to get the network going in the right way. You know what, when they have a little success they can talk. Until then, just be quiet, just be quiet, that's all, okay. That network is struggling right now. They should just try to figure out how to make the network work."
When a caller mentioned that ESIASON, who also does "CBS SPORTS MINUTE" commentaries for the network, was supporting AMENDOLARA and KINCADE's position, FRANCESA sarcastically responded, "BOOMER against me ... I'm shocked. I'm really worried about all of 'em. Bring 'em all on. I'm ready."
