NATIONAL RADIO DAY is celebrated every AUGUST 20th, marking the invention of the radio, which took place in the late 19th century, though not just a single individual can be credited. Broadcast stations first began appearing in the 1920s, covering news and world events. Radio ownership grew from two out of five homes in 1931 to four out of five homes in 1938.
According to FCC statistics, at the end of 2012, there were more than 15,000 licensed broadcast radio stations in the U.S.
NATIONAL DAY CALENDAR founder and "The Guru Of Geek," MARLO ANDERSON, who hosts "The Tech Ranch" podcast, which features discussions on technology for everyday life, says, to celebration NATIONAL RADIO DAY, listen to your favorite radio station and give a special recognition to your local radio personalities. Use #NationalRadioDay to post on social media.
