BONO is the richest musician in the world, but not because of his music, according to a report in the U.K. MIRROR.
The Irish lead singer of U2 made more money by buying a 2.3% share of FACEBOOK for nearly $76 million in 2009 through his investment company ELEVATION PARTNERS in its IPO than in the rest of his rock earnings combined.
Six years after that transcaction, BONO's prescient acquisition resulted in a $1 billion payday, which leapfrogged him over PAUL McCARTNEY, whose fortune totals $818 million for the honor. MADONNA trails in third place with $582 million.
