WOWB's Dale Riddick Fighting Leukemia

Christian radio vet, mentor and friend to many DALE RIDDICK with AGAPE EDUCATIONAL MEDIA Contemporary Christian WOWB (WOW 90.9)/BREWTON AL is at the beginning of what looks to be a long fight against a rare disease known as acute myesloid leukemia.
As station rep LARRY STEELMAN explains, "DALE was the major catalyst and one of the three founders of WOW 90.9. Besides being the station's General Manager, he has also been the morning man for the station from the beginning.
"A little before CHRISTMAS, DALE started being exhausted and very tired. With the holidays and a planned slow time at the station, he decided to stay around the house and relax and refresh. But after a week or so, he was still tired. SANDIE, his wife, was able to get him an appointment to see a Dr. around the 5th or 6th of JANUARY. At the appointment, the doctor took some blood and ran some tests. On the 8th, SANDIE got a call and was told to get him to the hospital ASAP. In the ER, they ran more tests and admitted him. At that time, he had only about 1/3 of the blood in his body needed and they were surprised that he was walking around and functioning. There were other issues with his blood as well. But after receiving about three pints of blood, he felt great and was ready to go home.
"Doctors in the PENSACOLA hospital were thinking leukemia but couldn't give a firm diagnosis. So they sent him home on the 15th, to wait until this past TUESDAY to go to the UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA at BIRMINGHAM's hospital. He saw a specialist and they came home on WEDNESDAY and were waiting for results to come back. On FRIDAY, SANDIE received a call from the doctor's office and DALE has to be admitted into SACRED HEART HOSPITAL for inpatient treatment. He'll begin chemotherapy and be in the hospital for the next three months.
"DALE has acute myesloid leukemia (AML). It is a relatively rare disease. We were surprised because he is in good health otherwise, his only symptom was being tired. With this diagnosis, unfortunately, DALE will also have to be in isolation because his white blood cells are low. As you can probably imagine, the last month or so has been an emotional roller coaster for the RIDDICKS and all of us at the station. The diagnosis is not what we were hoping for but he is getting treatment, they think they've caught it early, he has a positive attitude, lots of people praying for him, and he serves a big GOD!
"Here is how we are asking for everyone to pray so we can be in agreement with specific prayers: Ask GOD for DALE's complete healing by destroying all the leukemia cells in his body, so the leukemia will be in complete remission. Pray for his family -- SANDIE (his wife), ANNA (their young daughter), their older children AMY, DANIEL and their families, his mother and the rest of their family. Also, please keep WOW 90.9 and our small, dedicated staff in your prayers as we adjust to not having him around the station for a few months. Also, please share DALE's need for healing with anyone you know that will pray and add his name on any prayer list or chain that you may know of. Thank you for your continued prayers, support and encouragement at this time."
A fund has been set up to help the RIDDICK's with oncoing medical and living expenses. Check out gofundme.com/daleandsandie for more info.
