Univision Reveals First Confirmed Artists For 28th 'Premio Lo Nuestro A La Música Latina'

UNIVISION has released the names of the first set of confirmed musical artists who will light up the stage for the 28th edition of “Premio Lo Nuestro” (PLN). PLN 2016 will air on the UNIVISION NETWORK live from the AMERICANAIRLINES ARENA in MIAMI on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 18th at 7p (ET/PT).
PLN recognizes the wide range of styles and features performances by the hottest, most popular artists of every genre. The first set of confirmed performers includes: Tropical urban group GENTE DE ZONA, nominated under the Tropical category for Group or Duo of the Year and Video of the Year; Regional Mexican artist GERARDO ORTIZ, who is nominated in four categories: Regional Mexican Song of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Norteño Artist of the Year, and Album of the Year in the general category; Tropical sensation PRINCE ROYCE, nominated in the Tropical music category for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, and Artist of the Year; all time pop/rock singer THALÍA, nominated for Album of the Year and Female Artist of the Year in the pop/rock category; popular urban reggaeton artist YANDEL, who is nominated for Artist of the Year in the urban music category; and urban reggaeton singer MALUMA, performing his latest hit.
As part of the night’s recognitions, PLN will honor Colombian singer and composer CARLOS VIVES with “Premio Lo Nuestro a la Excelencia” for his extraordinary music career and contributions made through the years to Latin music. Vives, winner of five PLN awards, is also nominated this year under the Video of the Year category for his song “Tierra del olvido."
