Congress Approves Bill That Includes EAS-Improvement Provision

Both houses of CONGRESS have passed a major ports security bill that includes the Warning, Alerts and Response (WARN) Act amendment, which Sen. DAVID VITTER (R-LA) helped introduce. The amendment provides more than $250 million to update the national emergency alert system.
"The WARN system would provide the funding needed to modernize our emergency warning system and ensure that all communities have the ability to receive vital emergency information," VITTER said. The bill awaits President BUSH's signature.
