EMMIS Top 40/Rhythmic WQHT (HOT 97)/NEW YORK has launched STREET GLORY, a Christian Hip-Hop show hosted by HOT 97's DJ TONY TONE. The show, airing SUNDAY mornings from 7-9a, features music with topics focusing on faith.
DJ TONY TONE, aka THE BLESSED KEPT SECRET, was born and raised in the SOUTH BRONX. Many people in TONY’s early life influenced his passion of music. One person who stands out is his cousin, DISCO BEE, who was a member of GRANDMASTER FLASH & THE FURIOUS FIVE. Watching DISCO BEE work allowed him to see music in a different way. While TONY enjoyed listening and watching the technique of playing music, as time passed, he realized how much he wanted to become a DJ.
DJ TONY TONE belongs to the HEAVY HITTERS DJ crew, where he serves as the only DJ with them that plays Christian Hip-Hop. As Gospel entertainment continues to evolve, TONY focuses on providing his listeners the message of faith, in hopes of reaching them through the power of GOD and music.
