CJVF asked for the move because it is being displaced by the sign-on of EAST GM Asian CJRK/MARKHAM, a Class A station that will overlap CJVF's coverage; the CRTC recognized the need for CJVF to change frequencies but noted that its application proposed a technical amendment that would place it in direct competition with the new MARKHAM station for listeners and ad revenues.
But NATIVE COMMUNICATIONS INC. was granted a frequency change and power decrease for CIWM/BRANDON, MB, a rebroadcasting transmitter of Type B Native CINC/THOMPSON, MB. CIWM is moving from 91.5 FM to 107.5 FM and downgrading from Class C (100,000 watts) to Class A (2.700 watts) and from 325.6 meters to 13.8 meters due to limited revenues for the BRANDON area that do not support operating a full class C from a major transmitting site.
