PATRICK COMBS, a sales executive at DIGITY BROADCASTING who also served as the PA Voice Of God for NEBRASKA HUSKERS football games at LINCOLN's MEMORIAL STADIUM, has been ordered to stand trial for financially exploiting two elderly women for $363,000.
Prosecutors charged COMBS with four felonies: attempted theft, abuse of a vulnerable adult, theft by unlawful taking of more than $1,500 and unauthorized use of a financial transaction device. A judge has set an APRIL trial date in the case, in which CASE has been accused of using his power of attorney status to steal more than $363,000 from BEVERLY J. MOSHER, a now-deceased 88-year-old widow and longtime UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN employee suffering from dementia and another 92-year-old woman who was a friend of MOSHER's.
The 50-year-old COMBS is described in the LINCOLN JOURNAL-STAR as a former local radio talk-show personality, unsuccessful DEMOCRATIC candidate for the U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES in 1994 and an Exec. Dir./Sales for DIGITY BROADCASTING CO., which sold all 116 of its radio stations to ALPHA MEDIA last AUGUST (NET NEWS 8/5/15).
If convicted, COMBS faces up to 70 years in prison. COMBS' attorney has called the charges unfounded and the product of a "rush to judgment."
