HULK HOGAN was awarded $115 million in damages with the jury indicating that they want to add more for punitive damages in his suit against GAWKER MEDIA for the latter's publication at GAWKER.COM of a sex tape depicting the former pro wrestler and the estranged wife of radio host BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE.
HOGAN (real name TERRY BOLLEA) sued GAWKER, founder NICK DENTON, and then-editor A.J. DAULERIO for posting the video, which BUBBA has maintained was stolen from his possession by a former staffer. BUBBA's involvement led to GAWKER's attorneys trying to call him to testify, but BUBBA was able to get the court to keep him off the stand; he had said that he would plead the Fifth Amendment if required to testify.
