Last night, an emotional ARISTA RECORDS reunion took place at the CUTTING ROOM in NEW YORK CITY, which brought out not only the label's legendary founder CLIVE DAVIS, but a host of former employees and at least two artists, DIONNE WARWICK and ALAN PARSONS.
The event was attended by a veritable who's-who of ARISTA alumni, including A&R exec PETE GANBERG, promo vet RICHARD PALMESE, ROY LOTT, DON IENNER, MIKE DUNGAN, GERRY GRIFFITHS, KEN LEVY (among the organizers), CLIVE's longtime secretary, ROSE GROSS-MARINO, CAROL KLENFNER, GWENDOLYN QUINN, TRACY JORDAN, MELANI ROGERS and LYNNE VOLKMAN, among others.
There was an ARISTA Museum with artifacts, a cake in the shape a record/tape player and an In Memorium tribute that paid tribute to those not there, including WHITNEY HOUSTON and MICHAEL KLENFNER, among others.
CLIVE gave a warm speech, while video tributes poured in from the likes of of ERIC CARMEN about DAVIS visiting him in CLEVELAND and hearing the hit, "All By Myself." It was 42 years since he took over BELL RECORDS, cleaned house -- except for BARRY MANILOW and a couple others, and launched ARISTA RECORDS.
