FCC Hits Rhode Island College Station With Fine, Short Term Renewal

The FCC has issued a short-term four-year renewal and $12,000 proposed fine against BRYANT UNIVERSITY for public file violations at Classical WJMF/SMITHFIELD, RI, which simulcasts WGBH EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION Classical WCRB/BOSTON on its primary channel and airs student programming on its HD2 channel.
The school was offered the chance to enter a consent decree with reduced fine, as the Commission has done for first-time student-run-station offenders, but it declined the offer. The Station’s public file was missing 20 issues and programs lists during the license term.
