iHEARTMEDIA News-Talk WGY-A-F and Hot AC WRVE (99.5 THE RIVER)/ALBANY-SCHENECTADY-TROY's 18th annual Cares for Kids Radiothon on MAY 5th and 6th raised over $280,000 for the BERNARD & MILLIE DUKER CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL AT ALBANY MEDICAL CENTER. The 25 hour radiothon was broadcast live from the hospital.
“In APRIL, THE RIVER showcased an online video entitled ‘Stand By Me’ on our station websites featuring the courageous patients and dedicated staff from the CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL AT ALBANY MEDICAL CENTER,” said OM RANDY MCCARTEN. “During the Cares for Kids Radiothon, we again shared their amazing stories of treatment, and our listeners responded in a big way to support the CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL.”
“It takes a dedicated team of hospital and radio station volunteers to make the Cares for Kids Radiothon a success, but the true heroes are the children and families being helped by these efforts,” said WGY PD JEFF WOLF. “Their courage and willingness to share difficult and painful experiences - along with their victories - is truly what compels others to give so generously.”
