Gawker Motion For New Trial In Hulk Hogan Case Nixed By Court

HULK HOGAN has won the first appeals round in his thus-far successful suit against GAWKER MEDIA over the now-infamous sex tape with BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE's then-wife HEATHER CLEM. Judge HEATHER CAMPBELL rejected GAWKER's motion for a new trial and upheld the $140 million jury verdict against GAWKER, publisher NICK DENTON, and then-editor A.J. DAULERIO. The expected ruling sets the stage for the case to move to an appeals court.
The ruling comes after a report from FORBES TUESDAY alleged that SILICON VALLEY billionaire PETER THIEL has been financing HOGAN's and others' suits against GAWKER MEDIA, possibly as revenge for the site publicly outing him against his wishes in 2007.
