Two journalists working for NPR in AFGHANISTAN were killed in an attack SUNDAY (6/5) while traveling with an Afghan Special Forces unit, the network has reported. Photographer DAVID GILKEY and interpreter ZABIHULLA TAMANNA were part of a four-person team reporting from the HELMAND PROVINCE area; the group was in a five-vehicle convoy that came under attack by Taliban forces.
The other members of the NPR team, PENTAGON correspondent TOM BOWMAN and "ALL THINGS CONSIDERED" director MONIKA EVSTATIEVA, were not injured, the NEW YORK TIMES is reporting.
