TOWNSQUARE MEDIA has launched Urban AC station WNWZ-A (MAGIC 94.1)/GRAND RAPIDS. It is also on WLHT-HD2.
The on-air lineup will feature PREMIERE NETWORKS syndicated THE STEVE HARVEY MORNING SHOW, midday YASMIN YOUNG, Brand Manager/PD ED SPILLERS (known on-air as LEE STEPHENS) in PM drive, and PREMIERE NETWORKS syndicated THE SWEAT HOTEL hosted by KEITH SWEAT will hold down evenings.
Market Pres. RUSS HINES said, “While speaking with community leaders it became apparent that GRAND RAPIDS was in need of a radio station that delivered listeners R&B music and gave advertisers and non-profit organizations the ability to reach that audience.”
OM TOM COOK posted on FACEBOOK, “Exciting day for me! The number of stations I oversee grew by one TODAY. Happy to welcome "MAGIC 94.1 TODAY'S R&B AND OLD SCHOOL" to the GRAND RAPIDS cluster. This is the first full-time urban-formatted radio station in GRAND RAPIDS...and it's been a big deal in the Black community today. A lot of people worked behind the scenes to get this on the air, but the station wouldn't have sounded so freakin' amazing on day one without ED SPILLERS as the Program Director. ED, thank you. I'm lucky to have you on the team!”
SPILLERS added, “MAGIC 94.1’s mission is to entertain through music, news and locally driven content. We are very committed to becoming heavily involved in the community, and dedicated to serving as a platform to shine a light on events, news, concerns, and opportunities in GRAND RAPIDS.”
