Former Station Owner Al Dame Dies

Condolences to family and friends of former radio station owner J. ALBERT (AL) DAME, who died JUNE 5th in PHOENIXVILLE, PA at 85, according to the HARRISBURG PATRIOT NEWS/PENNLIVE.COM.
DAME started in radio at his hometown station WACB-A/KITTANNING, PA, and after serving as GM of several stations including WEEP-A-F/PITTSBURGH, he partnered with MIKE REA to buy WRSC-A-WQWK/STATE COLLEGE, PA, then sold the stations and WKBO-A/HARRISBURG and WRHY/YORK, PA; forming DAME MEDIA, he then bought REA out and grew DAME MEDIA into a sizable group before selling out to CLEAR CHANNEL in 1999. The next year, DAME formed DAME BROADCASTING and bought more stations before selling in 2005.
He was inducted into the PENNSYLVANIA ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS Hall of Fame in 2004.
