Sumner Redstone: Allegations That Daughter Controls His Actions 'Offensive And Untrue'

In an affidavit filed with a MASSACHUSETTS court in the case filed against him by VIACOM CEO PHILIPPE DAUMAN and former board member GEORGE ABRAMS, VIACOM controlling shareholder and former Chairman SUMNER REDSTONE objected to the plaintiff's characterization that REDSTONE's daughter SHARI is controlling his actions.
REUTERS reports that REDSTONE, in the affidavit filed with a motion to move the case to CALIFORNIA court, called the allegations "offensive and untrue."
DAUMAN and ABRAMS filed the suit to block their removal from the trust formed to handle REDSTONE's affairs in the event of incapacity or death and the board of the holding company that holds the controlling interest in VIACOM, suing REDSTONE and his NATIONAL AMUSEMENTS, INC. alleging that REDSTONE is not competent to operate the companies and that he is being controlled by SHARI REDSTONE, the VIACOM Vice-Chair.
DAUMAN called the filing part of "continued efforts to avoid a fair inquiry into SUMNER's well-being." The motion to dismiss by REDSTONE will be heard in a JUNE 30th hearing.
