JOSEPHSON ENTERTAINMENT is currently casting for the new reality musician competition program, "AMERICAN Supergroup (ASG)." BARRY JOSEPHSON, along with co-creators KEVINWAYNE WALDROP and GARY WAYNE BRIDGES, are filming auditions in NASHVILLE for musicians of all types and genres. Audition material can be submitted by upload online.
The show will be broadcast this FALL with a first run of eight episodes on POP-TV (a joint venture of CBS-LIONSGATE), with an air date to be announced shortly. VIACOM (MTV LIVE and VH1 CLASSIC) will air the second/third runs, followed by a special dedicated YOUTUBE channel. CAA is the exclusive worldwide agent for the show. As announced at the recent MIPTV market in CANNES, international format rights are available worldwide.
Said executive producer JOSEPHSON: “We are excited to open auditions in our search to find the best musicians in the U.S. and form the very first 'AMERICAN Supergroup.' This country is fortunate to have many extremely talented musicians and we look forward to bringing them to NASHVILLE – the music capital of the world and home of so much music innovation. 'AMERICAN Supergroup' is a labor of love for our team, showcasing performers who are sure to give a great musical experience.”
"AMERICAN Supergroup" is a music competition program showcasing the creation and evolution of the best new band in the country. Guided by a panel of music experts, 25 finalists will be selected to form five groups of five members each -- best guitarist, best drummer, best bass player, best keyboards, and best vocalist. Each contestant must have three qualities, they must each be: a great vocalist, a master musician, and an accomplished songwriter. Audiences will interact with, and vote for, contestants (bands) via social media platforms and an exclusive ASG app.
Aspiring contestants will be mentored by some of the industry’s best musicians including renowned, award-winning guitarist JAMES BURTON. The JAMES BURTON FOUNDATION is partnering with ASG and its mission is to support music education for those in need through guitar donations and music instruction to schools, hospitals and community service organizations.
Judges will be comprised of a panel of music experts: either a member of a multi-platinum selling band or supergroup, from any genre; or an entertainment industry insider: manager, record executive, producer, etc. All judges will hold proven credentials that demonstrate their part in building the careers of legendary award-winning bands.
JOSEPHSON is currently Executive Producer of "Bones" on FOX and "Turn: WASHINGTON Spies" on AMC. He served as President of worldwide production for COLUMBIA/SONY PICTURES, responsible for hits such as "Men In Black," "Air Force One" and "In The Line Of Fire," among others. He is the co- founder of COMIC RELIEF, and managed PAULA ABDUL, PATTI LaBELLE, MORRIS DAY and WHOOPI GOLDBERG.
