The FCC has brought a lawsuit against PACIFIC EMPIRE RADIO CORP., licensee of five stations in LA GRANDE, OR, for nonpayment of a fine for public file rule violations at Talk KLBM-A and Classic Rock KUBQ (CLASSIC ROCK 98.7)/LA GRANDE, OR; Talk KBKR-A/BAKER, OR; and Oldies "BOOMER RADIO 95.9 AND 105.9" simulcast KKBC-F/BAKER, OR and KRJT/ELGIN, OR.
The Commission fined the stations in 2014 for the 2011 violations and PACIFIC EMPIRE appealed in a Petition for Reconsideration claiming inability to pay, but the Commission rejected the appeal in FEBRUARY 2015. The licensee appealed again in an Application for Review, which was rejected in NOVEMBER 2015. A demand for payment within 30 days was filed in JANUARY but the fine was never paid; the suit was filed in U.S. District Court for IDAHO seeking the $25,000 plus interest and costs.
