WALLER BROADCASTING Top 40 KLJT-KFRO-F (95.3/102.3 THE BREEZE) and Regional Mexican KMPA-KZXM (KOMPA FM)/TYLER-LONGVIEW, TX have fired their staffs and the stations are for sale, much to the surprise of the employees, who arrived at the station early MONDAY morning to discover the locks changed and police on hand.
NBC affiliate KETK-TV reports that THE BREEZE's morning show "THE MORNING MADHOUSE" showed up for work at 5:30a (CT) and found the locks changed. They say that they then entered through a side door and noticed handkerchiefs over security cameras and other doors locked; ultimately, they learned that SUSIE WALLER, who has taken control of the company under power of attorney from her mother DOROTHY WALLER after the death of owner DUDLEY WALLER, SUSIE's father, had told the police she had terminated the entire staff on FRIDAY and that they were therefore trespassing, a claim the employees dispute, noting that they worked at a station community event on SATURDAY.
The stations are the focus of a family dispute in which company Pres. BILL WALLER, SUSIE's brother, has been trying to buy the stations from the estate; BILL WALLER has accused SUSIE WALLER of OSHA violations for not fixing the air conditioning for a month, possibly causing employees to fall ill. SUSIE WALLER told the TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH that the stations will be sold.
The morning show posted its account of the proceedings on FACEBOOK:
