Regionally-syndicated sports talker MATT JONES continues his spread across KENTUCKY's media world with a new daily television show on NBC affiliate WLEX-TV (LEX18)/LEXINGTON, reports the LEXINGTON HERALD LEADER.
The as-yet-unnamed show, patterned after ESPN's "PARDON THE INTERRUPTION" and COMEDY CENTRAL's "THE DAILY SHOW," will air at 7:30p (ET) weeknights tentatively starting on SEPTEMBER 19th, the paper reports, with the "KENTUCKY SPORTS RADIO" host saying that the show will have a "heavy sports focus" but will "talk about things people in KENTUCKY, especially Central KENTUCKY, are talking about." JONES previously hosted a show on statewide cable channel CN/2 and segments on CBS affiliate WKYT-TV/LEXINGTON.
In a post at KSR's website, JONES said, “We’ll talk everyday life- the things that are on your mind right now. So sure, UK sports will be a big factor, but also politics, what’s happening around the state, whatever is going on that sparks real conversation. And we’ll have fun with it. It’s exciting to do this type of program on LEXINGTON’s number one TV station, WLEX.”
“MATT’s new show gives us the chance to create fresh, local programming,” added WLEX President and GM PAT DALBEY. “It’s going to be unlike anything currently in our market. MATT has a huge following on radio and online, and this new venture exposes him to an even greater audience. We’re thrilled to have him.”
