August 17, 2016 at 2:42 PM (PT)
GREATER MEDIA Classic Rock WMGK (102.9 MGK)/PHILADELPHIA morning man JOHN DeBELLA has added a beauty contest and a human bumper car game to his 1st annual JOHN DeBELLA TOMATO FEST this SATURDAY, AUGUST 27th at PENNSAUKEN's COOPER RIVER PARK from 12-4p (ET).
Women 18 years or older are welcomed to enter the TOMATO QUEEN BEAUTY CONTEST to win $500, a tiara and the sought after TOMATO QUEEN sash. Contestants will be judged by the members of the JOHN DeBELLA Show on beauty, grace, tomato- themed outfit/costume and crowd applause. Registration information can be found at wmgk.com.
The event will also attempt to once and for all, put one of the tri-state area's most heated arguments to rest -- should it be called "tomato sauce" or "tomato gravy?" The DeBELLA Show has split into two teams -- TEAM SAUCE and TEAM GRAVY -- who will compete in a spirited game of Bump Ball, an activity in which the players will don a clear rubber inflatable ball and act like human wrecking balls as they attempt to push their adversaries out of the gaming circle. Spectators will have the chance to take sides and win a prize if the team they picked wins.
Attendees will be able take part in entering the biggest tomato, best tomato sauce, best salsa contests & Mr. Tomato Head contests; tasting and voting for the best tomato pie; dunking show member SUPER STEVE in the dunk tank; enjoying cold beer and delicious cocktails in COOPER HOUSE’s beer garden and even taking part in rotten tomato target practice.
The event will also help provide food for the less fortunate in the community. All attendees are encouraged to bring fresh produce and canned goods to donate to the SOUTH JERSEY FOOD BANK, who will be on-site collecting items.
