Coming on the heels of ALL ACCESS' report this morning that former USA RADIO NETWORKS owner CROSS PLATFORM MEDIA has filed for bankruptcy comes word from FLOYD BROWN, the new CEO of USA RADIO NETWORKS, which was acquired by LIFTABLE MEDIA last OCTOBER (NET NEWS 8/19).
Since acquiring the property, BROWN writes that LIFTABLE MEDIA has invested "more than one million dollars in revamping the network with new facilities, personnel, programing and technology."
USA RADIO now shares a facility with LIFTABLE MEDIA, described as "one of the largest digital news providers in AMERICA, publishing the social media news websites LIFTABLE.COM, WESTERNJOURNALISM.COM and others.
Says BROWN: "Our vision for USA RADIO NETWORKS is to move it away from traditional opinion talk radio. We canceled all but two of the programs carried by the old USA RADIO. Our idea is to bring our strength in digital and social media news to audio/radio medium. We launched last JANUARY an entirely new show called 'Trending Today USA With RUSTY HUMPHRIES.”
BROWN continued: "We want to put the news back into talk radio. We believe that most of today’s talk radio offerings have too much opinion and too little news. We are attempting to create a 'news feed for radio,' similar to what millions of consumers enjoy today in social media. This new format has also been embraced by advertisers upset with the harsh opinions often carried in traditional talk programing.
"While we are a totally independent network without any station ownership footprint, we have continued to have our top-of-the-hour news product carried by over 400 different radio stations."
"Trending Today" has been cleared on over 30 different talk stations including the iHEARTMEDIA's WGST/ATLANTA.
Adds BROWN: "Ratings have been strong since we encourage our over 20 million unique monthly digital readers to test-sample the radio product."
