19 RECORDINGS/ARISTA NASHVILLE artist CARRIE UNDERWOOD made a surprise appearance during last NIGHT's (11/15) GRAND OLE OPRY performance to extend a formal invitation to CRYSTAL GAYLE to join the OPRY family as an official OPRY member. GAYLE's formal induction will take place on SATURDAY, JANUARY 21st, 2017 when her sister, LORETTA LYNN, will be present for the formal induction ceremony.
GAYLE, best known for her string of 20 #1 Country hits including "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," made her OPRY debut nearly 50 years ago at the RYMAN AUDITORIUM when she sang "Ribbon Of Darkness" at the age of 16. GAYLE is the first artist to be invited to join the OPRY family since LITTLE BIG TOWN's induction in OCTOBER 2014 (NET NEWS 10/20/14).
