WXZX (105.7 The X)/Columbus Flips From Alternative To Sports

The new format for iHEARTRADIO Alternative WXZX (105.7 THE X)/COLUMBUS, OH is Sports as 105.7 THE ZONE, previewed by a stunt all day TODAY with clips of OHIO STATE-MICHIGAN football play-by-play, WOODY HAYES interviews, and related elements. The station will be a FOX SPORTS RADIO affiliate.
Veteran sports talker BRUCE HOOLEY, who recently left GOOD KARMA Sports WKNR-A (ESPN 850)/CLEVELAND, is returning to the COLUMBUS market for "HOOLEY AND A PLAYER TO BE NAMED LATER" in mornings alongside his TIME WARNER CABLE SPORTS CHANNEL OHIO "#HOOLEY" co-host colleague MADDIE SPIELMAN, starting with an afternoon debut TODAY at 3p (ET) and then moving to mornings 6-9a on TUESDAY (11/22), with the show "syndicating soon to stations you can get on your car radio" outside COLUMBUS, according to a tweet by HOOLEY this afternoon, adding that the show "will be on iHEART stations in the I-71-11 corridor soon."
Also in the lineup for the launch will be FOX SPORTS RADIO's DAN PATRICK, RICH EISEN, COLIN COWHERD, JAY MOHR, JT "THE BRICK," JASON SMITH, and BEN MALLER. Sister News-Talk WTVN-A Sports Anchor MATT MCCOY will contribute special reports, and the station will be on the CLEVELAND CAVALIERS and CINCINNATI BENGALS radio networks.
“COLUMBUS has one of the best sports fan bases in the country and they finally a have a new destination for COLUMBUS based sports and entertainment radio in the morning, plus the best national line-up available the rest of the day,” said VP of Programming MICHAEL MCCOY.
The station will be taking on the market's format leader, RADIOHIO/DISPATCH Sports WBNS-F (97.1 THE FAN), which features OHIO STATE football and COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS hockey play-by-play.
