In reporting MIGGY SANTOS' exit from the PD post at ALPHA Top 40 KLLY (ENERGY 95.3)/BAKERSFIELD (NET NEWS 12/14), we quoted him alluding to a new gig that he would reveal after the new year.
Sure enough, yesterday we learned that SANTOS has joined ONE PUTT BROADCASTING in FRESNO as PD/morning host on KJWL, which has been rebranded as 99.3 NOW FM. The station's former Triple A format has relocated to 105.5, which had been hosting Classic Hip-Hop KJZN (REWIND 105.5).
The launch, overseen by SANTOS and JASON SQUIRES, PD for sister Alternative KFRR (NEW ROCK 104.1), made its debut yesterday at 7:20a. SANTOS, who did wake-ups in FRESNO awhile back at KWYE (Y101) has enlisted the help of former ENERGY midday talent DJ JESS (also no stranger to FRESNO) for afternoons, while NICOLE GIORDANO covers nights.
Expect new calls for the station, which is currently running commercial-free. Find them on FACEBOOK.
NOW FM's playlist features BRUNO MARS, MAROON 5, THE WEEKND, ANDY GRAMMER, COLDPLAY, FERGIE and FITZ & THE TANTRUMS, among others.
Commented SANTOS: “This just feels so right. I’m from NEW YORK, but FRESNO has always felt like home. The entire ONE PUTT family has made me feel so welcomed.”
ONE PUTT partner CHRIS PACHECO explained the promotional plan this way: “It’s huge – 65 billboards, thousands in cash giveaways, TV and a street team that just won’t quit…it’s game time baby!”
In addition, ONE PUTT has returned K-JEWEL at 105.5FM, with a contemporary AC format that includes ADELE, BILLY JOEL, CELINE DIOIN, CHICAGO, MICHAEL BUBLE, PHIL COLLINS and FLEETWOOD MAC, among others. “Today’s K-JEWEL” will also bring back many of the features that made the station famous, including "Spotlight On Local Business," "Money Matters," "Something To Think About," "National Women In History Month" and others.
Added ONE PUTT's JOHN OSTLUND: “K-Jewel is a brand that people trust. We’re excited about returning to original content and community involvement, it’s what local radio is all about.”
