Songwriter-producer SHANE MCANALLY and artist manager JASON OWEN have teamed to form MONUMENT RECORDS in collaboration with SONY MUSIC. The label's first artist signings are CAITLYN SMITH and WALKER HAYES.
MCANALLY and OWEN will serve as MONUMENT RECORDS Co-Presidents, while former UMG NASHVILLE Dir./Marketing KATIE MCCARTNEY joins as SVP/Marketing & Label Operations. Additionally, KELLI PORTER, formerly of UMG NASHVILLE, will serve as Mgr./Marketing & Label Operations. The label staff will be based out of OWEN's SANDBOX management offices in NASHVILLE where OWEN will continue managing LITTLE BIG TOWN, FAITH HILL, DAN + SHAY, CHARLIE WORSHAM, SETH ENNIS, and more. MCANALLY will also continue to produce artists outside of the MONUMENT group.
"It's always an amazing opportunity to work with two people who are as talented and nice as JASON and SHANE," said SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT CEO DOUG MORRIS. "We're proud to be their partners under the iconic MONUMENT name. JASON is a highly respected label and management executive who has played an important role in the careers of some of NASHVILLE's biggest stars and most exciting newcomers, and SHANE is an incredibly accomplished songwriter and fantastic talent developer. We think they're a great team and a terrific addition to the SONY MUSIC family."
The original MONUMENT RECORDS was opened in the 1950s and was home to DOLLY PARTON, KRIS KRISTOFFERSON, and many of WILLIE NELSON's early recordings before closing in 1990.
