GAB Radio Talent Institute Underway In Georgia

The NATIONAL RADIO TALENT SYSTEM's season of programs for aspiring broadcasters begins TODAY (5/13) with the GEORGIA ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS' GAB RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE at the UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA's GRADY COLLEGE OF JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION. The program will run for 10 days, including one excursion to the ATLANTA FALCONS' MERCEDES BENZ STADIUM in ATLANTA.
Among the speakers scheduled for the program are outgoing CUMULUS EVP MIKE MCVAY, COX MEDIA GROUP's TIM CLARKE, the RADIO ADVERTISING BUREAU's ERICA FARBER, the ATLANTA HAWKS' STEVE HOLMAN, and representatives from CUMULUS COX, BEASLEY, ENTERCOM, URBAN ONE, iHEARTMEDIA, and others. Students attending the seminar this year hail from GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY, PIEDMONT COLLEGE, GEORGIA SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY, CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY, GEORGIA COLLEGE AND STATE UNIVERSITY, FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA AT LAFAYETTE, COLUMBUS STATE UNIVERSITY, and the UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA.
GAB Pres. BOB HOUGHTON said, “The GEORGIA ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS is proud of our partnership with the NATIONAL RADIO TALENT SYSTEM. Over the past five years we have graduated over 100 students who are ready to make a contribution to the future of our industry. I appreciate the nearly forty broadcasters each year who give their time and talent to speak in the INSTITUTE. Broadcasting, and specifically radio, has a proud past and, with this program, a bright future.”
GRADY COLLEGE OF JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION Dean CHARLES DAVIS said, “The GAB RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE is a great asset, a great event introducing students to broadcasting careers. It is a wonderful addition to our offerings.”

This SUMMER will see eight NATIONAL RADIO TALENT SYSTEM Talent Institutes, including the GAB's edition; the BEASLEY RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE at EMERSON COLLEGE in BOSTON; the KELLAR RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE at APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY; the TAB RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE at the UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE; the CONFER RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE at BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY in PENNSYLVANIA; the HUBBARD RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE at CENTRAL WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY; the KENTUCKY BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION WKU RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE at WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY; and the MISSOURI BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE at NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE UNIVERSITY.
